Bernd Reichert
I am a figurative painter living and working in Berlin. Our world has become more volatile, unpredictably changing and bitterly ironic than ever. I don’t want to join those who amplify these visions. Instead I want to create art as an optimistic counter proposal outside the (post-) modernist art canon. The human body, stripped bare of its social and societal references represented by clothes & fashion, is the most beautiful thing humans own and this needs to be celebrated.

In 2013/14, she furthered her studies at the Winchester School of Art in the UK. During her studies, Ham participated in several solo and group exhibitions. In recent years, her artistic expression has shifted from painting to video, digital art and performance art. She uses her body to outline spaces in cultural institutions, puts herself in unconventional situations, and uses security camera footage for her video work to obtain views that are normally accessible only to “surveillers”. With her videos, graphic design, and photographs, Ham also works in theater and the Ljubljana club scene.

I paint without conscious intention or purpose. I respond by painting 108 emotions which is a significant number in some religions and sometimes represents original sin. My abstract painting looks like nerve endings. The canvas is my skin and the paint is my nerves. I am interested in how people respond emotionally and I allow viewers to touch and feel along with me.
